Role Highlights
The trust and estates associate is a key contributor to our firm’s success, collaborating with individuals, families, and fiduciaries on estate and trust planning, business succession, estate administration, guardianship, and conservatorship matters. This role involves managing client matters from inception to completion, including contested estate issues, while delivering highquality, cost-effective services. The associate engages in meaningful client and professional interactions, balancing independent responsibilities with teamwork to ensure seamless support and efficient handling of all matters.
Primary Focus
- Client Engagement and Planning: Partner with clients to develop, structure, and draft estate plans, including wills, trusts, and other wealth planning strategies tailored to their needs.
- Administration and Representation: Counsel fiduciaries on estate and trust settlement and administration, and advocate for clients in probate matters and estate-related court proceedings.
- Legal Strategy and Communication: Devise and implement effective legal strategies while clearly explaining complex concepts to clients and collaborating attorneys.
- Project and Case Management: Manage multiple client matters and timelines efficiently, ensuring high-quality service and seamless support.
- Additional duties and responsibilities as assigned: Responsibilities, duties, and activities may change at any time.
Core Requirements
- Juris Doctorate degree from an accredited law school with a record of strong academic achievement.
- Licensed to practice in Minnesota and membership in good standing with the state bar.
- Demonstrated expertise in complex trust and estate planning and administration.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Pro.
- Clear, concise, and persuasive verbal and written communications skills.
- Critical thinking skills – ability to actively process, objectively analyze and assemble information in a logical manner.
- Strong attention to detail, delivering work product with minimal errors.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, deadlines, and conflicting requests.
- Maintain high standards of professional conduct in compliance with the Minnesota Rules of Professional Conduct.

- Compensation for this position, ranging from $120,000 to $150,000, is commensurate with relevant experience and qualifications.
- While performing this job’s duties, the employee will have prolonged periods of sitting or standing and working on a computer. Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs. and occasionally up to 50 lbs.
